Downtown McKinney, Texas is one of my favorite little corners in the world. Dozens of adorable shops and boutiques with so much personality and charm make up The Square, where you can browse and shop all day, grab a cup of coffee and catch up with friends. It’s also a great spot for an engagement session for two coffee lovers & voracious readers! Chelsea & Sam share a love for literature and met at Samford University. They were friends for almost three years before they became a couple, and spent a semester together studying abroad in London. (How cool is that?!) This was something Chelsea had always wanted and hoped to do but Sam didn’t sign up until the very last possible moment! And as it turns out, it looks like this was God’s plan for them all along! It was the semester in London where Chelsea began to look at Sam a little differently and began to see him as more than just a good friend.  They graduated this past May and are both off to graduate school this fall. But, before they ventured their separate ways for a little while, (Chelsea to Syracuse, and Sam to the University of Colorado at Boulder) Sam decided it was time to pop the question, and Chelsea couldn’t say, “Yes!” fast enough! 😉

It was a beautiful morning for their engagement shoot. They love all things vintage and their outfits were perfect; Sam in suspenders and Chelsea in an adorable dress she got while in London. In an effort to avoid as much of the Texas summer heat as possible, we agreed to meet just after sunrise, so naturally my first goal was to find a coffee shop. Snug on the Square couldn’t have fit better. If you’re going to be out and about this early in the morning, this is just the place to put you in a good mood, and the coffee is amazing! Sam and Chelsea found a cute over-stuffed chair in the corner with “snugs & kisses” painted on the wall above them.  They fit right in and I love the fun moments we captured.
Towards the end of the session as we walked down East Louisiana Street, we passed Spoons Cafe…and of course, had to get ice cream, even if it was only 9:30 in the morning. And I loved it when Chelsea smashed the cone in Sam’s face! PERRRRRFECT!! Chelsea & Sam were so much fun to work with and I loved watching them celebrate such a precious and exciting time in their lives! Their wedding date is set for May, 2017 and I cannot wait! Congrats, you guys! 😉
