This was the first engagement session of 2017, and it couldn’t have been more fun! Ashley & Derek are such a great couple and I loved spending the afternoon with them this past weekend! We met at the beautiful Arlington Hall at Oak Lawn Park, the exact spot where they got engaged! It was definitely winter weather, but the sun was shining and it was absolutely beautiful! These two were so much fun to work with. When Ashley mentioned that she wanted to include coffee in their photos, I was totally on board!! That’s definitely a language I speak! 😉

Ashley shared with me that they were concerned with posing and looking stiff in their photos, but I assured them that I would pose them to look totally natural. To be honest, every couple is concerned about this. It’s totally normal to feel a little nervous or awkward at first, but like I tell all my couples, in about 15 minutes, you’ll feel totally comfortable!

My goal for the engagement session isn’t just to provide my couples with beautiful photos. While this is so important, it’s not my only focus. While we are together, I’m getting to know my couple, how they met, what’s important to them and what they love most about each other. In addition, they’re getting comfortable with me, and they’re learning to trust me. When it comes time for their wedding day, we’ve already had a session together and they know how I work and what I mean when I say, “nuzzle in”, or “look over to the left and laugh”! It all leads to beautiful images and an amazing Wedding Experience.

I am so blessed to meet and work with amazing couples, and Ashley and Derek are so precious! Their wedding is in October and I’m so happy to have a part in such a wonderful time in their lives! Congratulations, Ashley & Derek! More to come, but enjoy these for now!!!
